A rural wilderness prophet from Judea proclaimed the coming of Jesus Christ! He was the voice in the wilderness.
His name was John the Baptist.
He was unique in all that he did. From the clothes he wore, the food he ate and the message he preached. By description, he was a wild-looking man, but he possessed an irresistible authority from God. People were moved by his words because he spoke the truth. John's aim was not to draw attention to himself by his appearance, but to point others to Jesus Christ and His coming. John's announcement was to prepare the ground, so to speak. The hearts of mankind.
Similarly, in John's day, before a king took a trip, a messenger went out ahead to tell others that the king was planning a trip to visit. Therefore, the obstacles in the roads had to be removed and potholes needed to be filled in. Likewise, our hearts and lives must be prepared to receive Jesus and His Truth.
When sin blocks the path to our hearts, Jesus nor His Word never reaches its destination, "YOU!"
If we are to receive God's Word and powerful presence, we must prepare ourselves.
God's instruction was specific: repent!
This involves a complete change of mind, heart and will. Is your life prepared to receive Him daily or possibly for the first time?
Anything less is inadequate.
Many who heard John's message were unprepared and missed their opportunity for Jesus' arrival.
They had heard the message from John that Jesus was coming, but they had not prepared the path in their lives for His arrival. Instead, religious rituals were there choice.
Have you never experienced Jesus?
Have you been practicing religion with a heart that has been unmoved?
Has there been a painful silence filling your days and nights?
God is ready to meet with you today...
Have you prepared the path and readied your heart to experience Jesus today?
